Inductees: Carolyn Allbee, Roland Eon '70, Jeff Gaudette '01, Paul Gobeil '52, Nichole Kimborowicz '09, Shawn Walton '93, 1973-1974 Girls Basketball
Carolyn Allbee is a 1960 graduate of Kennebunk High School and a 1964 graduate of Plymouth State College. While attending Kennebunk HS she distinguished herself both academically and athletically. Carolyn participated in basketball and softball for four years and was a member of the school’s National Honor Society, Varsity Club, and the Girls Athletic Association (GAA). Carolyn came to Biddeford as a physical education teacher and coach in 1964. After one year at Biddeford Junior High, she moved to Biddeford High School, where she served for 24 years until her retirement in 1988. Coach Allbee began coaching girls basketball in 1965, transforming the competition from a half-court game to 5 on 5 full-court game. During her tenure as a basketball coach, BHS girls basketball experienced several successful seasons, including making the playoffs, Big 8 Championships, Western Maine Runner-ups, and an undefeated season in 1973-1974. Besides teaching and coaching, Carolyn had a strong interest in mentoring young women to pursue their interests in athletics. She served as the GAA advisor which was designed to increase interest in girls' sports and to promote sportsmanship in all sporting activities. She also attended numerous career workshops and conferences at the State University System designed to help promote women in careers of physical education. Coach Allbee’s contributions as a mentor and promoter of girls' sports came at a pivotal time in the history of women in athletics. Her coaching and efforts during a time prior to Title IX helped make for a smooth transition into a new era of women's athletics. Carolyn was a coach ahead of her time. A true trailblazer for the young women of Biddeford High School.
Roland “Rollie” Eon is a 1970 graduate of Biddeford High School, where he participated in football, basketball, and baseball. While at BHS, Roland earned the reputation of being a dynamic 3-sport athlete. He also served as the Class President and was a member of the National Honor Society during his senior year. Rollie served as a captain of the football, basketball, and baseball teams during his senior year. As a sophomore, he earned all-conference honors on the 1967 State Championship football team. That same year, he was awarded the American Schoolboy Achievement Award. In basketball, Rollie ranks #39 all-time for the Tigers with 473 points; all coming before the adoption of the 3-point line. In the sport of baseball, he was a career .377 hitter for the Biddeford Braves, a local baseball team. In 1971, he was awarded the very first Outstanding Athlete Award by the Biddeford Braves for being a standout 3-sport athlete at BHS. Rollie has also completed two marathons and has had two hole-in-ones golfing during his avid lifestyle. A recipient of the Biddeford Education Foundation’s Pillars of Pride, Rollie’s service to his community is numerous. He served on the Biddeford Fire Commission, Biddeford Saco Chamber of Commerce, Biddeford’s Economic Development Commission, Hospice of Southern Maine, St. Andre’s Home, Cancer Care of York County, Salvation Army, MaineHealth, and the Biddeford Saco Rotary Club. Rollie was the co-chair of Southern Maine Health Care’s Dorothy Walker Bush Pavilion Capital Campaign and is currently co-chair of the Hospice of Southern Maine Capital Campaign for the construction of a much-needed new building.
Jeff Gaudette is a 2001 graduate of Biddeford High School, where he participated in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track and field. Over the course of his high school career, Jeff earned the reputation of being one of the best track athletes in BHS history. Starting with a 7th place finish in cross country his freshman year, Jeff quickly began turning out stellar performances on a regular basis. He placed multiple times at the state level and earned All-SMAA and All-New England status in all three seasons. As a senior, Jeff lost one race the entire year. Following his state title in cross country, Jeff went on to win titles in the mile and 2-mile run in both the indoor and outdoor track State Championships. He also placed 3rd in the state in the 800M on the same day he captured two state championships in the mile and 2-mile run. Jeff was the recipient of the Stephen F. White Award, presented annually to the top male athlete in his graduating class, and he remains the BHS indoor track record holder in the mile and 2-mile and the outdoor track record holder in the 3200M. Upon graduating, Jeff continued his running career at Brown University, where he was a 2-time All-American in NCAA Division I Cross Country and an Ivy League Champion in the 10,00M run his senior year. Jeff continued to run professionally after college, including various distance races nationwide and in Europe. In 2007 he ran the Chicago Marathon, in which he qualified for the U.S. Olympic trials for the 2008 Olympics. Since retiring from professional running, Jeff has authored two books on running: Easy Running Plans & 16 Weeks to a Faster Marathon.
Paul Gobeil is a 1952 graduate of St. Louis High School, where he competed in football, basketball, and baseball. While at St. Louis High School, Paul was a top performer for the Eagles, particularly in the sports of football and baseball. Paul later served his country in the United States Marines, as well as his community as a volunteer and civil servant. In 1950 Paul was an intricate member of the Class B State Championship football season, the school’s first undefeated season in St. Louis High School history. During the championship campaign, Paul scored a state high 79 points. He became the team captain during the 1950-1951 season, and he and fellow teammate Ken Cormier were coined the “Touchdown Twins,” combining for 47 touchdowns in the season. That same year, Paul scored four touchdowns against Old Orchard Beach, the second-most touchdowns in a game in St. Louis High School history. Paul’s 166 career points stands as the second-highest scoring total in school history. Paul was also a four-year starter for the Eagles baseball team, hitting .348 his junior year and serving as the team’s co-captain his senior year. Upon graduation, Paul went on to play football at St. Michael’s University for two years, then transferred to St. Francis College. Upon graduation, he went on to serve his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Marines. A lifelong member of the community, Paul served in many capacities, including Biddeford Treasurer and City Administrator from 1974-1995 and a volunteer coach for West Biddeford Little League. He was an avid supporter of Biddeford sports at all levels and an active and valued St. Louis Alumni Association member.
Nichole Kimborowicz is a 2009 graduate of Biddeford High School, where she participated in field hockey, basketball, and softball. While at BHS, Nichole was a standout 3-sport athlete and a member of the National Honor Society. As a respected member of her peers, Nichole was also a team captain in the sports of field hockey and softball. As an elite field hockey player, Nichole was a four-year starter for the Tigers. She had 16 career goals and 21 assists. She was the team’s most valuable player her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She was also a National Futures Tournament player during her junior and senior years and a Miss Maine Field Hockey nominee in her senior year. During her four-year career, she earned 1st team All-Conference honors and All-State status in her junior and senior years. Known for her grit and determination, Nichole earned the reputation of being relentless and fiercely competitive. As a freshman, she was the starting center fielder on the 2006 state championship softball team. As a four-year starter, she helped the Tigers earn two Western Maine Championships, and was a first-team All-Conference selection. Her senior year, she was also the recipient of the Brother Richard Hebert Award, presented annually to the top female athlete in her graduating class. Upon graduation, Nichole went on to play field hockey at the collegiate level for Division I Sacred Heart University. As a four-year starter, she earned All-Conference honors in her junior and senior years and was named the team captain her senior year. She was also a member of the Beta Beta Beta National Honor Society, the National Academic Squad, the Scholar Athlete Honor Society, and the Alpha Epsilon Delta Honor Society.
Shawn Walton is a 1993 graduate of Biddeford High School, where he participated in cross country, football, indoor track, baseball, and outdoor track. While at BHS, Shawn was a premier multisport athlete earning school records in football and track and field that still stand today, 30 years following his graduation. He earned nine varsity letters in four different sports. During his junior year in football, Shawn played a significant role as both a wide receiver and defensive back on the 1991 state champion team. His senior year (1992), he scored eight touchdowns for the Tigers with 853 receiving yards; both BHS wide receiver records that still stand today. Shawn also had 41 receptions placing him 2nd all-time in that category, one reception shy of holding the receptions received record as well (42). Following his senior year, Shawn was selected to play wide receiver at the 4th annual Maine Shriners Lobster Bowl Classic. Upon arriving, he was asked to switch positions to defensive back and had an interception and returned it for a touchdown; most fittingly, it was his final game at Waterhouse Field. In the sport of track and field, Shawn was an 11-time scorer at the league and regional championships over his 4-year career, placing 1st - four times in the 600M (2X), the 400M, and the High Hurdles. Shawn was also a 10-time State Championship scorer with 4 - 1st place finishes in the 600M, 400M, 60M High Hurdles, and the 100M High Hurdles. Shawn also held the school’s 45M hurdle record for 14 years from 1992-2006. In his 4-year career, Shawn earned team MVP four times, was a team captain three seasons, earned all-conference recognition as a wide receiver, defensive back, and track athlete, as well as the recipient of the Stephen F. White Award, presented annually to the top male athlete in his graduating class.
