The Biddeford Education Foundation will honor Educator Joyce Tarpy and Photographer Maureen Grandmaison at its Eighth Annual Pillars of Pride Dinner and Silent Auction. The event, which recognizes longtime contributors to Biddeford schools, will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The Lincoln Hotel in Biddeford.
Tarpy, a devoted educator and mentor for over 35 years, and Grandmaison, a talented photographer who generously donates her time and services to capture Biddeford’s most treasured moments, are this year’s guests of honor. Both women have made enduring contributions that have strengthened the Biddeford School Department and positively impacted generations of students and families.
“These honorees represent the very best of what it means to serve our community,” said Superintendent Jeremy Ray. “Joyce has guided countless students with care and compassion throughout her career, and Maureen has given her time and talents to preserve memories that strengthen our school pride. Their contributions go far beyond the classroom or camera lens—our staff and students are fortunate to have such dedicated individuals supporting them.”
Proceeds from the event directly support the needs of Biddeford students that fall outside of the regular school budget. In addition to providing food, clothing, and rent relief to nearly 500 families in need, the Foundation funds teacher mini-grants that enrich classroom learning. For example, Biddeford Middle School students experienced the Whale of a Day project last school year, where sixth-graders explored a 70’x30’ inflatable baleen whale, giving them a memorable, hands-on lesson about marine ecosystems, and Biddeford High School implemented a unified bocce program to promote social inclusion by joining students with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. These hands-on learning opportunities would not be possible without community generosity and support of the Foundation’s mission.
Tickets are now on sale for $50.00 per person, which includes entry to the event hors d’ouevres and one drink ticket. Limited space is available, and tickets can be purchased at Give Butter (https://givebutter.com/Pillars2025.
