Thanksgiving

Biddeford High School (BHS) students continued their tradition of service this season as the Student Council led its annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive—an effort that has quickly become a cherished example of Tiger Pride in action.

With support from students, staff, families, and local businesses, the group assembled 115 Thanksgiving baskets with holiday staples, including turkey, stuffing, vegetables, and other essentials, so local families could enjoy a warm, plentiful meal. The project also strengthened students’ understanding of the impact collective generosity can have within their own community.

“This effort is a reminder of how powerful student-led service can be,” said James Grover, Biddeford High School’s Student Council Advisor. “Our students continue to show leadership qualities and step up in a big way to help others in need.  We’re grateful to those who helped make sure each basket was full. It’s inspiring to watch our school community come together for something that matters so deeply.”

Students and staff gathered to sort, pack, and prepare each box for delivery, working side by side to ensure every detail was handled with care. Staff volunteers then delivered the baskets to families on Saturday, November 22, 2025, across Biddeford, Saco, and Dayton. The project was supported through donations from the Biddeford Education Foundation, Aid for Saco Kids Foundation, Brown Dog Carriers, Volk Packaging, Poland Spring in Hollis, Biddeford Coworking, The Academy of Dance, Oakhurst Dairy, and many individuals who contributed food or funds.

Principal Martha Murray commended the effort, noting, “There is a special kind of pride that comes from helping others, and our students and staff embraced that fully. Their teamwork, empathy, and willingness to serve highlight the very best of who they are—and who we want them to become.”

The Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive continues to grow as a meaningful tradition at BHS, showcasing how students can create lasting impact through kindness, leadership, and community connection.
