In an effort to create a safer, more efficient drop off in the morning we will be implementing new drop off procedures at BHS for morning drop off, starting November 2nd. For those dropping off between 8:15am and 8:35am, please be sure to follow the attached procedures. We will have adults guiding you in the morning and this will be similar to what we do at our elementary schools to manage traffic.
Directions:
From Main Street: Cars coming in from Main Street can still drop off on Maplewood Avenue, as students will be exiting on the school-side where there is a sidewalk.
From South Street: Cars coming in from South Street will turn left toward the Steve White Gym and pull up in between the two traffic cones. There will be BHS staff there directing this process. Once the area is full, students will exit the vehicles and the cars will exit toward Highland Street. The process will continue until all students are dropped off.
Buses: The procedure for buses will stay the same. They will either pull up beyond the first speed bump on Maplewood Avenue and drop off students there OR pull into the Steve White Gym lot with the line of cars and drop off there.
These new procedures will address the following problems and concerns:
Traffic backing up to South Street
Cars passing school buses
With parking on Maplewood Avenue, there not much room for maneuvering
Kids crossing Maplewood Avenue without crosswalks into oncoming traffic
