DATE CHANGE - Due to the forecasted rain this coming Friday, the Special Olympics event has been postponed until next Friday, May 16th at Noble High School.

To finish off our Student Internship Week, we have Noah! Noah has spent the spring working for local builder and BRCOT Alum Jamie Brouilllard who owns JP Builders Inc in Biddeford, ME . Noah shared his favorite aspect of this experience, "I think my favorite part of this entire internship is the variety of things you can do in the workforce. During class you focus on one thing at a time but in the field you do multiple things and expand your horizon and it gives you a realistic view on what you would be doing for the rest of your life."

Today's Student Internship features Jaden. Jayden is expanding his skillset from our Welding program and work at Precision Machining & Fabrication in Westbrook, ME . Jayden shared, "My favorite part of my internship is being able to get out of the classroom and get a feel on how the real world works and get ahead while I can. It has helped me
plan my future, it’s helping me still it’s helping me find a stable job that I love doing and would
want to do it for a long time..." #MaineCTE

Today's Student Internship highlight is Broden! Broden “Brody” Jordan uses the skills he learned in our Auto Body program to spend his mornings working at RP Bell in Saco, ME. Brody had this to say about this experience, "I would recommend the internship program because it gives you a chance to get into the workforce early. This opportunity has allowed me to work almost full time while still managing my schoolwork. It has helped my get a career for after I graduate and has helped me gain lots of experience early on." #MaineCTE

Today's Highlighted Internship is Mackenzie! Mackenzie spends three mornings a week working at local architectural firm GTD Architects in Scarborough, ME. Her current project is designing a lakeside cabin! She shared, "This internship has solidified my plan to study architecture after graduation. Through this internship I have also become interested in studying a minor that would be helpful to me in the future, like construction management or interior design." #MaineCTE

Kicking off our Student Internship Spotlight week are Hunter and Charles! Hunter and Charles have been taking the skills they learned from our Welding program and putting them to work at Casco Bay Steel Structures in Portland ME @cascobaysteelstructures
Hunter said, "My favorite part of the internship has been being able to meet new people and understanding how they got to Casco Bay Steel even when they were a lot younger around my age a while ago. It just really helps me to understand that my opportunity that I have right now is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I would never give up on and will never forget.
Charles would offer the following advice to other students: "Get all your credits early so you can work instead of going to class in the morning leaves you more time in the afternoon for what you would like to do."

Make sure to follow us this week as each day we highlight students at BRCOT who are currently taking advantage of the opportunity to do an internship with local employers in our communities. Internships allow students to take the skills and knowledge they have learned in their classrooms and put it into real world practice. Internships are an amazing opportunity to grow your knowledge, build real world skills, create professional connections, and fast track your way to employment after graduation! At BRCOT, our Career Pathways Coordinator, Mr. Ryder, works with all students on career readiness skills such as resume writing and interview prep. He works alongside our faculty and businesses in the community to create job shadow and internship opportunities for all of our programs. #MaineCTE
